We support clients to work towards agreed goals to help them access and/or maintain accommodation. We can work with people for up to two years and support people in their homes, over the telephone or at our drop-in services. It is expected that the service will be for people requiring medium/low levels of support.
What does a support worker do?
They will ask you questions to help you decide what support you need, agree a support plan with you which will also include the steps you need to take to achieve what you want. They also check on a regular basis to make sure this is what you still want and you can add new support needs at any time.
What sort of goals will be in the support plan?
The goals will be agreed with you depending upon your individual needs. For example, if you find it difficult to manage your money, you may set goals to look at your weekly budget and agree how much you can afford to spend on different bills and items each week. Other goals may include helping you to link into other agencies who can help you, such as the Citizens Advice Bureau for money advice and debt management and ensuring you are receiving benefits you are entitled to. If you are homeless you may want to set goals about finding a new home, support during court appearances, accessing training and employment or help in agreeing child maintenance. Our support workers are led by you, what your needs are and what support you want from us to enable you to live independently in your home so that eventually you don't need our support any more.
Will I have a choice of support worker?
If possible, as this depends on the staff available.
How much does it cost to get this service?
It costs you nothing to receive this support. HomeStay will not charge you for this service as it funded by North Yorkshire County Council.
What happens to the information I tell you?
We keep confidential written records of the work we do with you on a personal file which is locked away.
Can you get me a house?
No. Stonham HomeStay does not have any accommodation in North Yorkshire but we can tell you who you need to talk to.
