What is Stonham Homestay?
We provide housing related support to people who are at risk of losing their homes or who need help to settle into or set up their new home. We work and have office bases in Harrogate District, Scarborough Borough and Ryedale District council areas. Although in North Yorkshire we do not have any accommodation we will provide you with advice and information on services that do.
Stonham HomeStay supports people who rent, have a mortgage, own their home, are living in temporary accommodation or who are homeless. There is no charge for the service which is funded by North Yorkshire County Council (Area Based Grant)
The key aims of Stonham HomeStay are to:
- Prevent homelessness
- Enable and empower clients to maintain their accommodation and manage other issues
- To promote independently living
- To enable clients to actively participate in the community in which they live
Typical areas of support are:
- Assistance in managing and reducing debt and budgeting
- Accessing Welfare Benefits
- Advice and information around accessing accommodation or avoiding homelessness
- Advice and Information around finding work, training / education or volunteering opportunities
- Accessing leisure/cultural/faith and other activities
- Contacting other services/groups and other support
- Accessing support to manage physical / mental health / substance misuse / reducing and /or managing self harm
- Applying for aids and adaptations to remain in the home
- Living safely in the home / community
- Support to comply with a statutory order e.g. probation /ASBO/ curfews
- Support to avoid causing harm to others
- Developing client confidence and ability to have greater life choices
